One Paris point equals two-thirds of a centimeter, meaning EU footwear sizes are directly linked to foot length rather than a purely numeric baseline. Unlike US and UK sizing, EU footwear typically does not differentiate between men's and women's numbering systems. Instead, the same numeric scale applies to both, with fit differences determined by last shape and width rather than separate size charts. This unified system simplifies some conversions but introduces confusion when mapping to gender-specific US or UK charts.

Clothing sizing in the EU commonly uses numeric measurements based on body dimensions in centimeters. For example, men's suits and jackets often correspond directly to chest circumference in centimeters. Women's apparel also reflects proportional measurement standards rather than arbitrary numbering.

Because EU sizes are measurement-based, they often convert more accurately when foot length or body dimensions are known. However, brand-specific interpretation still exists, particularly among fashion-forward labels and athletic footwear manufacturers.
